Wanda JK Crook, PT, GCFP is a physical therapist and Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner with over 23 years of rehabilitation experience. She received her degree in Physical Therapy from Mayo School of Health Related Sciences in 1986 and became a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner in 1993. In 2004, Wanda completed advanced training in Facial Neuromuscular Re-education with the highly renowned Facial Rehabilitation Specialist, Ms. H. Jacqueline Diels, OT, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Wanda’s experience includes the performing arts, movement therapies, and extensive treatment of individuals with stroke, brain injury, and other neurological impairments. Wanda played a key role in the development of a highly successful, multi-disciplinary Chronic Pain Program and established a well-recognized Balance and Vestibular Rehabilitation Program in a multi-site, hospital-based, medical system in San Diego. Additionally, she was an educational consultant for NeuroCom International, Inc. In 2006, she founded Movement Learning Center, a private practice physical therapy clinic in San Diego specializing in the treatment of facial nerve palsy and vestibular/balance disorders.
Wanda’s extensive background in both dance and movement therapies gives her a unique perspective of the aesthetic considerations in the recovery of facial nerve palsies. She is keenly interested in facilitating the recovery of both self-image and effective, congruent facial expression following facial neuromuscular dysfunction.
Professional memberships include the Sir Charles Bell Society (SCBS); the Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA); the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Neurology Section; and the Feldenkrais Guild of North America (FGNA). Wanda is currently the facilitator for the San Diego Acoustic Neuroma Association Support Group. She frequently presents in an educational capacity to both professional and public groups.
